Shaggy, Super Cat & Maxi Priest Make it a Night Flight!

Traveling as much as you do, you know that daytime travel is hectic; families with crying children want to get to their destination faster (and sometimes to the annoyance of fellow travelers), people talking on their phone at volumes that are offensive, and, airport staff are irritable because they have to deal with stressed out passengers which combined makes daytime travel hard, until you take a “Night Flight!”

Evening travel means less traffic, a relaxed experience, and most times going to an exotic destination with your honey according to Shaggy, Maxi Priest and Super Cat!

Jamaica’s Billion Dollar Industry ►►► Free the Marijuana!

No matter where you stand on the debate regarding medical Marijuana and the decriminalization thereof, a lot of people, are making a lot of legal money, and that money is not from the original source … Jamaica.

Reports such as an article posted in The Toronto Star indicate that if Jamaica were to follow the lead of Oregon, Washington and Colorado state, and legalize medical Marijuana, they could indeed have a billion dollar industry on their hands.  Some estimate that tourism would increase as people would travel from their home to JA to receive treatment that only authentic green can bring.

That thinking has become the premise for the song “Free Marijuana” by Lovindeer.  Produced by Rorey Baker for One Pop Music, the song compares monies earned through the banana industry, bauxite and tourism, and comes to the conclusion that by far, the most profitable is Marijuana.  Pree the lyrics:  “here we stand / one and all / with our backs against the wall / to the right everything’s so tight / price is out of sight / to the left the IMF / them ah gwaan like them deaf / we need more foreign currency / we need more foreign currency / can we get it from banana / bauxite, tourism or sugar / but can it come from Marijuana….”  Mercy!

HOTTT-ED New Reggae Riddim ►►► King Majesty 2014 ft. Busy Signal and More!

DJ Karim is one of the best who put out his best, with the best, and the result is the King Majesty Riddim 2014.  Not to be confused, the riddim is not based on the Queen Majesty riddim (think Dennis Brown), instead, the riddim is a hybrid of classic Dancehall. 

Leading the riddim run is Busy Signal.  You may have heard some of the controversy brewing over his chune “Real Talk;” if you have, the real talk comes from one of Busy’s 2 chunes on the riddim.  In the chune, Busy takes aim at a fellow artist (not hard to guess who), and says:  “singer nah fih ah war Bounty (Killer) / real talk / nuh memba when him bruk and him hungry / real talk / and beg dih bills and dih 50 / real talk / tell him nuh be ah ungrateful pickney / real talk / memba money caan change we / real talk / we nuh frighten fih Benz or Bugatti / real talk / memba dis dog … ah Killer (Bounty) did start we / real talk / help nuff ghetto yute outta poverty / real talk ….”  M-E-R-C-Y! 

When you combine these lyrics with the structure of the riddim and the way Busy rides the riddim, you will understand why the chune is so impactful.  The drum pattern is digitized as is the bass line (think a very loose similarity to Steely and Clevie), and the accents sound like a digitized cowbell.  Believe me when I say, the music is brilliant.  Bravo to DJ Karim getting this 100% right!
