Exco Levi Mourns The Death of Delus...

Exco Levi, Canada’s most celebrated and recognized Reggae Ambassador, mourns the passing of Dancehall artist Delus who passed away on Wednesday June 22^nd at his home in Jamaica.

Receiving the news by telephone, Exco was shocked as he and Delus spent time together during the artists most recent trip to Jamaica.  The two worked together on Exco’s music video for “Siren” which was shot on location in Waterhouse.  Delus made a guest appearance, and his licensed firearm was used as a prop by the lead character in the video; and the two discussed recording together in the future.  “I couldn’t believe when I got the call” said Exco from his home in Brampton, Ontario, Canada.  “He was a good yute, a family man; this is hard to accept.”

Unaware of any issues with the artist at the time of shooting the music video, Exco went on to say “sometimes in life we see the top but we don’t see the bottom.  We all saw Delus.  We know he made music and was trying with his career, we saw him on the outside, but we don’t know what was happening on the inside.  We don’t know what was happening in the background, so I’m appealing to everyone, to please take time with each other.  Be supportive, lend a listening ear and do good.  We don’t know what others are going through.  I wish things turned out differently for Delus.”

Though Exco’s song “Siren” is about a mother’s son who was cornered by Police while reminiscing on the bad things he has done in life, and feeling there is no time to right the wrongs he’s done, the artist can’t help but feel for Delus’s Mother and family.  Exco hopes that this song, produced by Oneness Records, will be an alarm to get people living a negative lifestyle to stop. 

The industry continues to react to Delus’s passing with shock and grief.  Exco plans to attend Delus’s funeral as soon as arrangements are shared.

Exco Levi Drives for ‘5’ with Fifth JUNO Award Nomination for Best Reggae Recording!

International recording super star Exco Levi has become synonymous with Reggae in Canada, and thus has enjoyed giving fans quality music that has been appreciated as much on the day of release as its’ appreciated years beyond.  2016 is no different as the artists’ song “Hello Mama” becomes his 5^th song recognized by the JUNO’s with a Best Reggae Recording Nomination.

The announcement, made by the JUNO’s organizing body CARAS at a press conference at the Phoenix Concert Theatre in Toronto on Tuesday February 2^nd, 2016 was a welcome honor to Exco who was in attendance as the nominees were being recognized.  “Every time I release music, it’s an extension of me, and I’m honored to once again be nominated, it’s an honor to see my fellow nominees in this category with me and I’m glad to see Reggae gaining more appreciation in Canada” he said while speaking to media.

2016 marks Exco’s drive for ‘5’ as he not only appreciates his nomination for Best Reggae Recording, but possible 5^th consecutive win in this category.  A win this year will maintain his status with singing legend Anne Murray as most winning artist on a single category.  “Hello Mama” was produced by Silly Walks Discotheque, and featured in the Ram Jam riddim compilation.  Previously, Exco worked with the German producers on the award winning “Storms of Life.”

Exco Levi will be performing at the Tribute to Legends Showcase honoring the music of Bob Marley, Joseph ‘Culture’ Hill, Gregory Isaacs and Dennis Brown.  The show takes place at the The Opera House (735 Queen St. E.) in Toronto, and is a Jones and Jones Production.  This is the artists’ first Toronto performance since returning from his international tour which concluded in December, 2015.

The 45^th annual JUNO Awards will be held in Calgary, Alberta March 28^th to April 3^rd.  The main awards ceremony takes place at The Scotia Bank Saddledome on Sunday April 3^rd.  The awards will be broadcast live across Canada on CTV, a division of Bell Media.

106 & Park Host Joins JAMBANA™ One World Festival and Exco Levi On Stage!

106 & Park host, Keshia Chanté joins JAMBANA™ One World Festival as one of its’ star performers, and will also perform a special duet with reigning Canadian Reggae King, Exco Levi over the August 2^nd and 3^rd weekend.

Achieving international recognition with her hit songs “Bad Boy,” “Does He Love Me” and “2U” and “Been Gone,” Keshia is one of the most visible success stories from Canada, which was complemented by her tenure as co-host on the BET hit show, 106 & Park, alongside Bow Wow.  Since the end of the show, Keshia has been in the studio working on her next album, and filming for the 2^nd season of W Network’s docu-series “Hockey Wives.”  Keshia will make her debut in the series starting this fall.

Anticipating taking the stage at JAMBANA™ One World Festival, Keshia said “I am really excited to be performing at JAMBANA.  There is nothing like performing for my fans here at home – I can’t wait, and performing with Exco Levi is a definite highlight!”

The 7^th annual JAMBANA™ One World Festival, presented by Jones & Jones Productions Ltd, sees a fusion of world cultures at the Markham Fair Grounds on Sunday August 2^nd and Monday August 3^rd, 2015.  The Festival runs from 1:00 pm to 9:30 pm both days.  This year’s festival is supported by long-time television partner, Global Toronto and new addition for 2015, the Toronto Sun.

Jamaica’s Dancehall sensation Gully Bop is enjoying a successful tour in Canada which comes to an end on Saturday May 2^nd, 2015 with his performance at the Oshawa Music Hall (39 King Street East).

Exco Levi Launches His Debut Album Country Man!

Reggae recording star, and 3 time JUNO Award winner Exco Levi has announced 2 dates for the launch of his debut album, Country man; Wednesday March 18^th, 2015 at Crawford (718 College Street West), and Thursday March 19^th, 2015 at Belleeny’s (4000 Steeles Avenue West) in Toronto and North York respectively.

After his 15 years of recording experience including almost 100 singles which has earned him multiple awards in Canada, the US and Jamaica, Exco, has chosen two venues to host the launch of his debut 19 track album entitled Country man.  The deeply personal album which was written by Exco, bears songs that describe his challenges as a new immigrant to Canada, the mind set of children who are not on the right path, and Levi’s reliance on God for strength and support throughout the good and not so good times in his life.

Produced by Donovan Germaine for Penthouse Records and Exco’s newly formed High Priest Records, the music helps the words come to life, especially with songs “Country Man,” “Letter to Jah” and “Natty Haffi Long” which each have a groove that causes listeners to sing along with the chorus.  Of this recording experience Exco says “putting together this album has been the most rewarding experience.  There’s nothing like having an album that fans can play as much as they like.  This is a piece of me that they are playing throughout their day and it feels good.”  Recorded at the Penthouse Studios in Kingston, Jamaica and in Canada at his High Priest Music with the exception of “Storms of Life” which was recorded by Silly Walks Discotheque in Germany, Exco spent four months in Jamaica and more in Canada putting this project together with contribution from Reggae’s finest musicians.  “Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare, Dean Fraser, Firehouse Crew, London’s Mafia and Fluxy, Dave Kelly, Leroy ‘Horsemouth’ Wallace to name a few have blessed Country man,” says Exco Levi.  Classic background vocals from legends Pam Hall, Mitsi Campbell and Twiggy fill out the body of the music and co-writer / vocalist Romain Virgo complete the sound of Exco’s debut album.

Country Man is a significant musical milestone in the musical landscape.  The album will be available on compact disc as well as limited edition vinyl.  This release builds on the momentum gained by Exco in recent months.  2015 marks his 4^th JUNO nomination for Best Reggae Recording, the artists first JaRIA nomination for Breakthrough Artist of the Year, and receipt of his first International Achievement Award from Brampton Triple A’s presented at the Brampton Powerade Centre.    

Exco has previously won 3 consecutive JUNO’s for Best Reggae Recording.  Anne Murray is the only artist in Canadian history to win 7 consecutive JUNO’s for Country Female Vocalist of the Year.  He is also 1 of 10 to be featured on the CBC as Top Reggae Artists to Watch in Canada.

Make It Another One for Exco Levi!

Exco Levi’s 2015 could not get off to a better start and today’s news is yet another cherry on the cake!  Before I get to today’s great news, let me start with Exco’s performance at Sting (December 2014) where he not only performed well, he picked up a legion of new fans.  In January, 2015, Exco performed at Rebel Salute which solidified his placement on fans list as one of their favorite artists.  

Later in January, it was announced that Exco had been nominated for the JaRIA (Jamaican Recording Association) Breakthrough Artist of the Year, and now today, has been nominated for the 2015 Juno Reggae Recording of the Year!

This year marks Exco’s 4^th nomination and I couldn’t be more proud.  The song that put him in the category is “Welcome the King” on the Love Quest Riddim produced by Kheilstone Music based in New York!

Album Release Party ►►► Exco Levi – Words of the Wise!

It is not by mistake that Exco and team have named his first EP Words of the Wise!  Caring deeply for his fans, and understanding the struggle they have been through, Exco Levi is of the people and for the people and shares his wisdom with the people!

On Sunday May 18^th, 2014, Exco will be up close and personal in Toronto, Canada (his home town away from his original hometown of Manchester), from 8pm to 10pm at Belleeny’s Restaurant & Lounge (4000 Steeles Avenue West at Weston Road).  The artist will be signing CD’s, and will meet and greet with media who wish to receive one on one stories about how some of the songs and recordings came together for the album.  The album was produced by Donovan Germaine of Penthouse Records and is released on the VP Records imprint.

Currently on tour in Europe (May 10^th Exco performs in Muenste, Germany), Exco shared “My journey in Reggae has been strengthening; mixed with ups and downs, and I have a story to tell. This EP is another part of the journey. We are ready to share this with my friends and fans up close at Belleeny's on May 18^th!

Going from strength to strength, Exco opens for Mykal Rose and Jr. Reid on May 24^th, 2014 at the Sound Academy, and will perform this summer in Helsinki, Finland, Toronto, Canada for the fan favourite JAMBANA, Lydbolger, Norway for the Sound Waves Festival, and Calgary, Alberta for the Calgary Reggae Festival and additional dates are being added!

iTunes Ready! Exco Levi - Words of the Wise!

Today is officially Exco Levi’s day!  The artist, alongside Penthouse Records and VP Records has released his first EP entitled Words of the Wise!

The disc is a collection of previously released songs, BUT, one new chune not known to the masses is included called “Under My Sheets!”  How could Exco sing all these conscious songs, then sing “Under My Sheets?!”  You have to hear the song to understand, but I will say, for those of you attracted to music, as in instrumentation, you will LOVE what Dean Fraser does with the chune!

Exco is currently on tour with Silly Walks Discotheque in Europe, and will be doing radio interviews when he returns May 12^th, 2014 to promote his album and interact with his fans!
