Sean Paul Talks About Hypocrite!

Hypocrites are always in our midst.  They are the people who pretend to live a good life, pretend to be moral, have principle, or pretend to wish people well, but behind closed doors, they don’t live a good life, they are immoral with no principal and don’t wish people well.  In fact, hypocrites will tell you one thing, but do something else.

Dancehall has a new anthem where “Hypocrite” are concerned and it comes courtesy of Sean Paul!  Teaming with Andre Gray and his brother Jason Henriques Misik Muzik / Dutty Rock co-production), Dutty Yeah (aka Sean Paul) wastes no time letting you know the movements of a hypocrite.

Sampling Dancehall legend Bounty Killer who issues a stern warning that ‘nuff gwaan like dem ah friend yuh see,’ the tump of the beat and drum pattern act like a constant knock to your head saying ‘you can’t trust people.’  By the time we get to the 20 second marker, we accept whatever’s coming as truth.

At 98 BPM Sean Paul sing-jays:  “dem ah nuh yuh friend / dem ah friend enemy / dem ah pose up / but dem ah wanna-be / dem ah gwaan like / dem would deh deh P / anything ah jump off / dem ah fled yuh see / can see dem when dih trouble it ah knock / but dem surface when dih girls dem ah flock / can see dem when yuh pocket turn flat / but dem waan sekkle when dih bank book shat….”  K-A-B-O-O-M!

What true lovers of Dancehall will appreciate is Sean’s return to authentic Dancehall – not a lot of instrumentation, but a lot of drum and 808 kick!  Check the link and make sure you tell SP what you think >>> @duttypaul

HOTTT-ED New Dancehall ►►► Busy Signal – Same Way!

Greetings!

Do you remember the expression ‘the message is in the music?!  Hold that thought!  My good friend Busy Signal has dropped off some new music and of course, it’s HOTTT same way, and lyrically flattens whatever may be left standing!

Doing what he does best, Busy lets the world know that nothing has changed, and it’s business as usual “Same Way.”  In fact, the DJ begins his new chune by clearing his throat to make sure there is no misunderstanding, then says:  “yo street ah lock same way / lyrics tuff same way / mih ting ah beat same way / yeah / dem want it drop but it rise to the top / same way / still ah whap dem same way / yeah / yutes a hustle fih dih food same way / touch dih road same way / get yuh money same way / yeah / hot-ed / nuttin nuh change same way / mih inna dih place ah voice song same way / yeah….”  Musical Murdah!

True to Busy’s style, the introductory lyrics do not compare to the lyrics he gives deeper into the chune.  So prolific is his style, that it almost sounds like the music is fighting to keep up with him; the perfect analogy is Usain Bolt reaching the finish line and his competitors are still coming out of the blocks.  Kaboom.  Busy is flawless and fearless in his lyrical delivery.

For those of you interested in the sonar, the music becomes irrelevant (and I say that with respect) as the focus is on the points that Busy leads up to lyrically, but if you need an idea, compare the pace of the riddim to a horse running furlongs.  By the way, this is a Turf Music production!

Lawless and HOTTT in the Streetz ►►► Cham ft. O – Bend Down!

Greetings!

There are no labels you can place on Cham, or, O, to describe the heat they continue to bring to the streets of Kingston, Toronto, New York, London or Hamburg.  They have created a vibration that transcends ‘Bonnie and Clyde,’ ‘Beyonce and Jay-Z,’ ‘Cher and Sonny,’ or even Jada and Will.’  Cham and O are touching the Michelle and Barack levels and their newest chune “Bend Down” makes that point!

Produced by Coppershaun Music and Lawless Music, Cham and O rip this Dancehall track that is infused with Electronic and Pop effects.  Moving all party goers on the dance floor, Cham begins:  “10 gran fih dih hot sexy gyal dem / weh ah wine and ah madd off dih man dem / true dem rude government want fih ban dem / oh wah joy / so big up dih sound man dem / kill dih bass mek dem wine to dih tweeta / caw mih waan see some hot Senorita / get mad in the miggle ah dih street yah / so any time yuh hear dah sick beat yah ….”  But wait!

O joins Cham with instructions for the ladies, and tells them to do this: “bend down like ah chair yuh siddung pon / make it bounce like a bed you ah bump on / dem ah wondah where dem move yah come from / wine pon dih floor like a man you ah wine pon….”  Kaboom!

Musically, maximum respect is due to this tag team production who push the envelope of how Dancehall is consumed by fans.  When they first started, Jamaica and the Caribbean was home base; with this chune and others like it, the world is home base as all Electronica and Pop fans will LOVE the vibe, and will appreciate the Dancehall seasoning.

If you are not playing this chune, it can only be because you don’t play Dancehall.  If you do play Dancehall and are not playing this chune, I don’t mean to be rude when I say … you’ve missed the boat!

Broadcasting in amplified sound, catch Cham featuring O and the chune “Bend Down” produced by Coppershaun and Lawless music at the YouTube link below.
