Tears For Fears 1985 Meets Japanese Breakfast 2019!

When good music is good, it's great and there is no time limit to when fans can and will enjoy.  In the case of award winning Pop group Tears for Fears, their music is no exception.  My friends at Giant Step shared some sweet information that original TFF fans will love ... the classic "Head Over Heels" song has been re-released!

Today, W Records, an imprint from W Hotels Worldwide, has released a cover of Tears for Fears’ “Head Over Heels,” by Japanese Breakfast (Michelle Zauner, a Dead Oceans recording artist). “Japanese Breakfast has recorded a beautiful, ethereal reimagining of ‘Head Over Heels’,” said Curt Smith co-founder of Tears For Fears.

Last month, Zauner released the first of her two singles for W Records, an original song titled “Essentially.” “‘Essentially’ is a spacey, yet danceable thumper that finds Zauner demanding the kind of love that makes everything—and everyone—else seem trivial by comparison, like looking down on a crowd from a great height,” said Paste Magazine. Both tracks were recorded in the W Sound Suite at W Bali - Seminyak. Fans recently enjoyed a Japanese Breakfast performance at W Taipei on May 25th.

W Records will be reaching beyond music to support a cause that’s important to both W Hotels and the artist. A portion of the proceeds from the streaming of both Japanese Breakfast tracks will benefit the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).

Japanese Breakfast joins fellow W Records performers Amber Mark, Perfume Genius and Roosevelt, rounding out the inaugural class of W Records.

HOTTT New Dancehall / Pop / Hip Hop ►►► Melodic Yoza – Countri Bunkan!

For those of you who have been asking for more of a mix between Dancehall and Pop / Hip Hop, you are going to appreciate the current release from Melodic Yoza called “Countri Bunkan.”  

The only Dancehall / Reggae heard on this track are the vocals of the artist and the enunciation of his words.  The music is 100% Pop / Hip Hop making it infectious and easy for fans and music lovers to follow.  With that said, what is the big deal about people who come from ‘country’ and people who come from the city?  Why are country people discouraged and city people encouraged?

Melodic sings:  “Hold on tight don’t let go / this is the life that I know / from ah likkle and ah grow / they used to be like ‘bwoy know where you ah go’ / hey County Bunkan whap’m where you come from talkin bout yuh gun man / that is such a dumb plan / run go beat drum pan try and be someone / you didn’t pass your common entrance / couldn’t get an entrance….”

The song goes on to share the conversation between a ‘country’ yute and Melodic who encourages the yute to strive for more.  He also intersperses scenes of growing up flying kites and playing with gigs to show that he understands where this man is coming from.  I truly endorse this chune!

Mr. Vegas, Sean Paul & Fatman Scoop Turn the Party Up!

In continuance of the global Party Tun Up phenomenon, ace dancehall DJ Mr. Vegas has collaborated with Sean Paul and popular hip hop DJ FatMan Scoop to debut the Party Tun Up Remix video. 

Directed by Ramzi Farris of West Wall Street LLC, the video features the additional vocals of Sean Paul and the prompting of FatMan scoop; both adding complementary elements to the already popular smash. 

The Party Tun Up Remix video was choreographed by three-time MTV VMA-nominated choreographer Tanisha Scott who is best known for her work with Rihanna, Alicia Keys, Sean Paul and Beyonce and is noted for incorporating Jamaican dancehall moves into mainstream American music. 

Shot in November 2013 at two of New York’s more popular  and exclusive clubs, WIP and Greenhouse;  Party Tun Up the remix has a natural party vibe and with the original track already boasting a massive following worldwide there is now a visual element to the remix which itself has won its own fans. 

Laced over an infectious up-tempo beat, the Party Tun Up remix video is a dance infused, visually energizing five minutes of fun and frolic, mimicking the actions of women the world over who have been dancing to the original track over the past year. The ILLIONNaires – Good Girl + Not Around Remix!

Looking at the name The ILLIONNaires, figuring out who they are and what they represent won’t be so easy.  As soon as you hear their music, not only will you be moving (head bob at minimum), you’ll be singing along to their punch line “I think I gotta good girl….” 

Based in the UK, the duo, are best described as fusion where R&B / Pop meets a pinch of Dance with a dose of Caribbean flavor.  They are producers and song writers as well as vocalists which gives them a unique perspective on music, and a unique performance.  Unique in this case is good!  

The first single I received from them is called “Good Girl,” which, if you believe music starts with the bass line, is definitely the song for you!  The sugary bass determines the pulse of the song and gives off a visual effect of a couple enjoying each other’s company on a rainy day.  One thing leads to another, and another, and another…! 

Appreciating good music as much as you do, you’re going to appreciate this song from the UK’s ILLIONNaires!

HOTTT New Dancehall! Alty B – Wine Up Yuh Body {Tech Sweedz Riddim}

Dancehall artist Alty B has struck certified Gold with his newest release called “Wine Up Yuh Body” on the Tech Sweedz Riddim produced by Smokey from Smoke Shop Productions! 

To Alty B, there is nothing more appealing in the club than when you see a woman wine up her body, so with that thought process, the artist put his thoughts into song! 

Performed to a riddim that is Dancehall with a lot of Techno, Alty rides the beat effortlessly as he DJ’s “love dih way you ah wine on dih sum’n / every man inna dih club waan say sum’n / look pon dih way you ah bubble / body double my girl yuh ah trouble / my girl me waan jump in yuh middle / yuh nah soft and mih fit like a fiddle / this ah no rhyme mih nuh tink seh a riddle / can dash out yuh middle / wine up yuh body gyal….”  Murdah!

Vybz Kartel and Teetimus on UFO MEDZ!

Established in his own right, Teetimus da producer is well known amongst music circles for his cutting edge sound and avante garde ear for matching artists with multi-genre sounds.  Teetimus’s newest project is no exception to this standard as he’s the first producer to make Vybz Kartel ‘pop!’ 

Merging Pop with Techno and a splash of electronic, Teetimus (as the producer) lays the musical groundwork for Vybz Kartel to deliver one of his most well received cross-over performances in the song called “U.F.O. MEDZ” which features the Dancehall King and Teetimus the Rockstar.
