Tell All Imitators ... Levels To This!

Demarco is one of the hottest Dancehall artists performing today.  Because of the many successes he's had over the past decade, it's easy for up and coming artists to think that Demarco's success can easily be duplicated ... it can't.

Reflecting on Demarco's start, we have to acknowledge his early days and his time performing at the Cactus Night Club in Portmore (at age 15), and DJ'ing and a youth on the Future Disco Sound System (at age 16).  When early hits such as "Fallen Soldiers" and "Duppy Know Who Fih Frighten" comes in to play, we have to think about all the behind the scenes lessons he must have learned when people began to change (due to his success) but chose not to talk about because he's a soldier like that.

And what about his HIT chune "I Love My Life" which was mysteriously removed from YouTube after racking up some 25 million views?  Just imagine having to deal with such direct 'badmind' take aim at his career.

Yeah, Demarco, has taken career blows and he's still here, making GREAT music with no apology.  It's because of these things and more that we have to Salute the artist for making the chune "Levels to This."

Produced by ZJ Bruce Lee and performing to the Kick Dem Riddim, Demarco lets the world know that as much as you think it’s easy to duplicate, you must understand that there are “Levels to This!”  You don’t wake up and all of a sudden are an international superstar.  You have experience to gain, and a talent to develop which doesn’t come overnight.

The DJ says:  “man a Sup (Superintendant) and them a Corporal dawg we nuh normal cause level to this / we get the stamp of approval we pick and we choose gyal cause ah level to this / dem cyaan walk inna we shoes we nuh have nuttin fih prove but ah levels to this ….”  K-A-B-O-O-M!

This chune is a must add to every playlist.  If you're working out in the gym, this is a must play.  If you're an athlete competing, this is a must add, and if you're a person in a position that everyone wants to have, press the play button!

For the Ladies who Move Like a Propellah!

Friends in the UK and Europe know the name Serocee very well.  Friends in other parts of the world are still getting to know the artist, BUT, with the release of today’s chune “Propellah,” everyone will be on the same page which is that Serocee and the chune is BADDD!

Produced by Toddla T Sound for the Kensal Road EP, this chune is a Carnival special – from Nottinghill Carnival to Carnival in Brazil and every one in between, Serocee picks up on a recurring theme displayed on every Carnival route, in every Dancehall and every bedroom of consenting adults, and that is the motion of a woman’s waist.  This motion can be compared to the rotation of a helicopter blade:  “Propellah!”

Using the bass to accentuate the punch of a women’s hips when she moves, Serocee sings “yo mih gyal who teach you fih wine so / dih Kartel tune with Black Rhyno / so much gyal inna dih dance but mih find yuh / touch yuh toe when me get behind you / yuh nuh boring gyal / yuh nuh idle / when you get turned up men go psyco / show me how you ride the cycle / wha mek so much man waan fih bribe you….”  And the word play continues!

This chune is part big band (think college marching bands), part UK Swagger, and all Caribbean attitude, and I’m telling you, it’s a hit, let me repeat, HIT chune.  Don’t pause, blink, wait or sleep on this chune, it is that good … worse if you request it at Raves ... dih place buss!

Catch the chune at the download links below and make sure you Tweet with the artist and tell him what you think >>> @Serocee

P.S.  The only thing you won’t like about the chune is it’s not long enough!

Busy Signal Ponders Things Like These...

I remember when Busy Signal first began his career as an artist.  I can’t believe so many years have passed, but what I can believe is the fact that he keeps making hits like he just started.  Travelling through what I would call his ‘middle passage,’ Busy delivers his newest hit chune “Things Like These” which you are going to LOVE!

Produced by DJ Karim for Stainless Records and Jeff Nitro for Real Links Productions, this chune is perfect in conjunction with Burru Banton, King Kong, Eek-a-Mouse, or as a chune selected on its own to showcase a deep meditation Busy shares through song.  The artist sings:  “boom wah dis / wah dat / tell them things like those / anno things like these / cause things like those / have flies and fleas / some smoking coke / ignoring trees / them old dirty works / and evil-ous deeds / yutes trod militant / when you’re round these streets / and nuff nuh stand firm / some go down pon knees / just give thanks for life / for the birds and the bees / protection when mih trod pon the land or overseas ….”

If ever there was a chune that Busy created that demonstrates he’s vibrating on a higher level, it’s this chune.  DJ Karim and Jeff Nitro give the artist the perfect soundtrack to let the masses know his thought process.

HOTTT New Music Video Release ►►► Rickey Teetz – Poverty Life / Working!

Movies almost always have a common theme.  The subject (main character) comes from a particular background, has to overcome obstacle(s) to achieve a certain goal; just when they think all obstacles are removed, one more item pops up which is the biggest one, they overcome, and claim victory.  In between all of that, we also might have a love story.

Rickey Teetz walks us on that journey, but instead of telling the story in 2 hours, he tells it in 3 minutes via his HOTTT new music video, “Poverty Life / Working” which has just been released.

Shot live on location in Jamaica, Rickey walks us through the life of a youth / family who are having a hard time making ends meet.  One of the iconic shots in the video is the close up of one slice of bread which is intended to be dinner.  To showcase how close the story line is to Rickey, he is featured in the video, not as a character, but as the narrator who is telling the story, and watching the story unfold at the same time.  We LOVE this!

So how does this story end?!  Well I can’t say there’s an end because Rickey is with us (whom the video is based on) and will be with us for another hundred years, but, the video goes on to tell us what happens after a few years of hard work.  It’s not a Hollywood ending but it is a Jamaica ending!

Made for the big screen, pree the music video for “Poverty Life / Working” by Rickey Teetz and produced by Win Out Entertainment at these links >>> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oqJMgI0DLus

Brand New Lover’s Rock from the Legend ►►► Sanchez – Him Buy Yu a Drink!

Greetings!

Every single thing is coming up new for Sanchez!  New music, new look, new team and a new distribution deal … you might even say that Sanchez has a new sound musically; his sweet voice is still the same!  Keeping with the theme of ‘new,’ Sanchez’s new chune “Him Buy Yu a Drink” is HOTTT off the press, new, and ready for you!

Produced by New Millionaire Entertainment and distributed by Universal Music Group, Sanchez takes ladies to school in a club setting by letting them know that if dude buys a lady a drink, and she gives him a dance, it does not mean that he is going home with her for the night.  To make the point, the singer sings:  “true him buy you a drink and get a dance / him mussi think that you’re looking for romance / him want yuh number / so give him six / tell him fih go buy the lotto because him / have a better chance / let him know not because you’re here only / doesn’t really really mean that you’re lonely….”  Kaboom, but wait till you hear the lyrics about dude waiting for chick outside the restroom!  Whoi!!!

And in this one chune, Sanchez has a ladies anthem!  He gives women around the world permission and authority to walk away from dudes who are being annoying in a club over a drink!  Musically, fans will like the easy vibe of the riddim, especially the tickle of the organ!

Broadcasting in amplified sound and ready for your Radio and Mixtape pleasure, catch Sanchez and his new chune “Him Buy Yu a Drink” produced by New Millionaire Entertainment at the links below.  Make sure you let Team Sanchez know when you play the chune with a Tweet >>> @SanchezOfficial | @L3Magazine

HOTTT New Collaboration ►►► Wayne Marshall ft. Agent Sasco and Giomar – Stupid Money!

Greetings!

Let me put this chune into context before I go into the meat of this eblast.  There’s money, and then there’s stoooooooooopid money.  There’s Joe Public kind of money, then there’s Oprah, Carlos Slim Helu, and Bill Gates kind of money.  Good.  The brand new chune from Wayne Marshall caters to the latter … the people who are working for “Stupid Money!”

Produced by Damian Jr. Gong Marley, this new chune is the second single from Wayne’s album called Tru Colors, and features vocals from Wayne’s 7 year old son Giomar whose voice is heard singing the chorus.  Adding spice and grit to the production is Agent Sasco who DJ’s some tough lyrics.

Riding the piano keys, Wayne sing-jays:  “cheddar cheddar / genuine leather / from bully beef to lobster bruschetta / jet setta / shopping in Vienna / custom Louis V with the shades and the sweater / define the treasure / a dub beeper / I got better / focus / tru that mih better / now I’m a master / money getter / rich forever / have some new fans that look like Ke$ha ….”  Kaboom!

The chune has an international feel (and will still appeal to the Caribbean dancehall market) and ambition which resonates with listeners urging them to do more and aim higher for that ‘stupid money!’  Adding spice and grit, Agent Sasco DJ’s “me ah tell yuh bout stupid money / dunce funds / me ah talk Bill Gates – Donald Trump funds / nah talk bout lunch money / no lunch funds / we talking lump sums / trust funds for mih great, great Grandsons sons / stupid money / mih dollars have no sense / mih buy ah Benz dealership because Mommy wants a Benz….”  Double Kaboom!

If ‘strings’ is your thing, you will appreciate Gong Zilla’s sonic use and placement of stringed instruments which complements the prominent piano riff.  The way the strings are used, you hear the maturity, class and money in the chune … point well made!

Broadcasting in amplified sound and ready for you to rock while listening to the Radio, partying in the Club or riding with your Mixtape, catch Wayne Marshall featuring Agent Sasco and their chune “Stupid Money” at the link below.  If you like what you hear, tweet with the Superstar and his team @Wayne_Marshall | @damianmarley | @L3Magazine

HOTTT New Reggae ►►► Eddie Murphy ft. Snoop Lion – Red Light!

Greetings!

Music is an infection that can’t be cured, and music is a healing agent that treats all people.  Eddie Murphy’s new single featuring Snoop Lion is both an infection and a healer and this paradox is accomplished through the new song “Red Light!”

From the time the introduction comes via the roll of the drum and the setting of the bass guitar combined with the pick of the riddim guitar, we know the message will be in the music.  Proving us right, and setting in the ‘infection,’ Eddie Murphy sings “red light / stop right / there where you are / red light / stop right / there where you are / out of the frying pan / into the fire / burning down the people’s souls / my high anxiety / is getting higher / feels like I’m gonna blow / gone is the breeze / it used to be so sweet / poison is the wind that blows / it can’t be long / till the military comes / with a knock – knock – knock on your door / alright….!

Establishing sweet balance, and acting as a healing agent, Snoop Lion adds to the song by sing-jaying “pick up the pieces / let it begin / cause this is the way that we flow / higher and higher and higher we go / through dedication / self preservation / highly I Selassie I ….”

Impressing listeners’ even more, especially Caribbean listeners, Eddie hails Marcus Garvey and makes note of the fact that since our great leaders are gone, we’ve lost our way and darkness has become the day … we need our rebels and leaders to step up again; if we don’t get that back, we’ll have a ‘red light.’

For true Reggae lovers, this song is for you.  It is authentic sonically and lyrically; what’s more, Eddie and Snoop could have used their voices to sing about hype but instead use their voice for message music and that should be applauded and played!

Broadcasting in amplified sound, and taken from his upcoming album called 9, catch Eddie Murphy featuring Snoop Lion and the chune “Red Light” at the links below.  You can also tweet your thoughts of the chune to Team Eddie / Snoop >>> @EddieMurphy | @SnoopLion | @L3Magazine

HOTTT New Music ►►► Vybz Kartel – Mother’s Love!

Greetings!

From our birth to our last days on earth, there is one name that we call more than any other and that is “Mom.”  Mother’s Love is the kind of Love that knows when we’re not feeling well, knows the perfect remedy to make us feel better, and exactly what advice to give.

One of the most famous Mother’s is Mother Theresa who made it a mission to care for the poorest of the poor.  In that capacity, she washed the soars of people who were sick, nursed a woman dying of hunger and visited poor families bringing them comfort.

Vybz Kartel’s song “Mother’s Love” is the kind of song that, regardless how you feel about him, is a song worthy of receiving international love as a celebration for all the good that Mother’s do.

Produced by So Unique Records and performing on a riddim that is R&B with a slight interpolation of Reggae / Dancehall syncopation, we hear lyrics that come from children when they speak of their Mom.  Kartel sings:  “No woman in this world can / take my Mama’s place / the loving that you give can / never be replaced / the lady in my life / everytime I see your face / me see love oh yes….”

Whether you or your listeners say Mom, Mum, Mère, Madre, Mãe, there is only one and she should be honored and loved every single day.

Broadcasting in amplified sound catch Vybz Kartel and the chune “Mother’s Love” at the link below.  When you play the chune, make sure you tweet @iamthekartel | @L3Magazine!

HOTTT New Adult Contemporary ►►► Dalton Harris – You Will Know {Penthouse Records}!

Greetings!

I feel like speaking to you in reverse where I give you the end statement, then I work my way back to the beginning so here goes … Dalton Harris has the voice of an Angel!

Every generation has a crop of artists that, as soon as you hear their voice, you just know they will have a successful career (if guided by the right hands).  Donovan Germain, Bunu, Shane C. Brown and the team at Penthouse records know what they hear in the voice of Dalton Harris, and now you will know too!

Originally performed and released in 1988 by Stevie Wonder as track 2 of his Characters album, the song was a #1 R&B hit.  It made his label, Motown very happy, and it made his fans very happy too.  Fast forward to 2013 and we have Dalton covering the chune in a way that would make Stevie proud!

For those of you who are particular about the arrangement of a song, you will like what team Penthouse did, and will appreciate the structure of the lead guitar as it plays a supporting role to Dalton’s smooth vocals!  If you’re in a mixed format setting, this song easily mixes with Adult Contemporary, R&B and Jazz!

Broadcasting at 320kbps, catch Dalton Harris and the chune “You Will Know” at the links below.  Make sure you connect with Team Dalton on Twitter and let him know that you support the chune and his career >>> @harrisdalton | @PenthouseMuzik | @L3Magazine

HOTTT New Dancehall and Hip Hop Crossover ►►► Cham ft. Damian ‘Jr. Gong’ Marley – Fighter!

Greetings!

As we journey on life’s road, we come to a point where the fighter in us must come out because if it doesn’t, we are either not going to get what we want, or we are going to be bullied.  Cham and Jr. Gong make sure that these circumstances don’t reach their fans by recording this undeniable street heat chune, “Fighter!”

Produced by Dave Kelly for Madhouse Records, Mr. Kelly finds the right notes to get the attention of the youths by introducing the chune with an electronic sounding base and a militant drum pattern.  This is the perfect opening for Cham to state:  “we made it but we did things our way / gotta give thanks and praises each day / we hustle real hard so we control our future / tun it up ….”  These words make way for Jr. Gong as he sing-jays:  “like a beacon on the mountain / shining through like the rising sun / so shall it be for the faithful / the ones who never stop till the work is done / we grind cause the system / does not favor the common man / but he shall reap the riches / plentiful like the grains of sand….”

Not stopping there, Cham brings home his point to the chune by DJ’ing:  “we nuh quit when we ah struggle / man ah fighter from we born / wifey haffi hot so from a hustling we gone / bruk and touch dih road / me nah come een till dawn / so when me say ‘on’ / yuh betta sen it on / screw the mutha lova’s who use we like a pawn / it’s all about the money / now ah dat we ah demand / ain’t lookin for no trouble / but ah years dat ah gwaan / so mek we tun it on….”

The significance of these words is that they are true to Cham’s heart and career.  Going back in the pages of time, Cham tells us of producers who over looked him as an artist because his tone was nasal and not like most other artists.  Dave Kelly saw the passion in a young 16-17-18 year old Cham and worked with him, and now look at where he is today.  The “Fighter” in Cham came out, and still comes out every time he hits the recording booth and the stage.  He fought so the world can know his talent … the words he DJ’s comes from experience so this record is a special gift from Cham to fans as he says ‘I understand.’

There is nothing about this chune you won’t love which is why you’ll have it on repeat from the iPod to the computer to the car and all other points in between!
