Emerge Artist Showcase - One Year Anniversary - Toronto!

Greetings!

It's hard to believe that it's been a year since the launch of Emerge Artist Showcase in Toronto!  I remember when I first received an email announcing the launch of the showcase and being proud that the independent artist community was working together to showcase the amazing multi genre vocalists the city had; now we're looking at a year!

Mark your calendars for Thursday, November 21 inside Revival Bar. Featuring some new artists, and giving you a recap of what this year was all about, Emerge will also be hosting a POP UP Kitchen featuring chefs Anthony Mair and Torrie Wilson so come hungry and leave soulfully full.  It's been an incredible year showcasing many of the top upcoming talent in every genre of music and the momentum has gained tremendous response from the community with EMERGE hosting the Redpath Waterfront Festival for 4 days and TIFF for 7 days and Nathan Phillips Square this sumer in addition to the many monthly showcases and open mic events we have produced.  Continuing their effort to promote Canadian talent, Emerge is thankful for all the support.
Big up Cindy Wilson and Ron Allen who are the Emerge Artists Showcase Organizers!

EMERGE ARTISTS SHOWCASE ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY

Veronica Domingues

Growing up in the west side of Toronto, Portuguese-Canadian artist Veronica Domingues always had a passion for music. At the age of 4 she was already singing to her family, but as she grew older, so too would her interest in music. While attending high school she was a member of the choir for 3 years. She performed in shows at her school, but really wanted to accomplish more than what she was already doing.

In 2010, Veronica Domingues was discovered by Jay L.A. Management and began her journey into becoming the soulful songstress she is today. During the year of 2011 Veronica decided it was time to start working on her own independent project. She decided to team up with producer Junia-T and Director/Filmmaker Customatic. “Just Chill”, was released on May 10th, 2013.

After releasing the video for her second track “Keep On” featuring Bubba, Veronica received local as well as international recognition on SingersRoom, a prominent American website. While the applause keeps coming in for “Just Chill”, Veronica has already set out to work on her next project (title and date TBA) and is looking forward to an exciting and busy 2013. “Just Chill” is now available on iTunes and Bandcamp.

Daniella Watters

Music is Daniella's soul satisfier, soul sister, and her husband. Although she is married to music, the relationship is not monogamous. Daniella does not limit herself to one genre or one band! She sings Rnb, Blues, Jazz, Pop, Rock, Soul, and Funk, and plays her own original music and covers. Daniella writes original music, collaborates with artists and producers, does studio work for other writers, and gives vocal lessons. Her current goals are to collaborate with talented musicians, write music for herself as well as other emerging artists, and get music placements in radio/tv/film! Daniella released her self titled EP this summer and is currently working on her second EP. Daniella's marriage to the arts extends beyond just music with her love for musical theatre, creativity, advertising, and marketing.

Daniella has an extensive background in music, musical theatre, and dance. She recorded her first song at age 11, was a member of a pop group by age 12, and came into the wild as a member of "Untamed", a girl pop band, alongside Alithea Watters and Kim Moffit by age 14. Untamed's official single, "You're Not Gonna Score," was played on heavy rotation on Kiss '92. Untamed released "You're Not Gonna Score" on MuchMusic and the video for "Nothing In This World" played on 36 stations across Canada. PJ "Kingpin" Wilson

If you’re looking for old-time soul, PJ Kingpin Wilson is your man. Born and raised in the city of Barrie, PJ fell in love with the old sounds of Motown as a young boy. “My parents always played Smokey Robinson and Marvin Gaye in the house. It’s an era I revisit all the time when it comes to my music.” Inspired by his own father singing at church, PJ enrolled in vocal lessons and began his quest for music.

In high school, he experimented with different sounds. Working with local rap groups, to school choirs and bands, PJ was determined to have his silky smooth voice heard. In 2011, a chance meeting with Juno award-winning producer Chris Perry, led to a series of recording sessions that brought to life his first three-track E.P. entitled “Preface”. The year after, PJ would continue to write and record but mostly spent the time developing his songwriting skills. “When I write, it’s usually about love and relationships. I’m a very positive spirit and it’s important that I illustrate that in my songs and in the way that I perform.” Always striving for more, he would drive into Toronto every week to perform in the open-mic circuit in order to fine-tune his sound.

“Ultimately, I want my music to make audiences feel inner happiness. When they hear it, they are inspired to feel something and they know they are not alone in their situation. I want to be relatable as an artist.” Embarking on an infectious musical journey where a revived sound of Motown and R&B will come alive, PJ Wilson is all smiles as he continues to draw in audiences with his soulful, never-ending, timeless tunes.

Celine Dion – Loved Me Back to Life!

Greetings!

Coming November 8th, 2013, Celine Dion’s newest studio album entitled Loved Me Back to Life is approximately 11 days away from release, and to ‘wet’ the appetite of her eager fans, the Queen has shared a preview of her second lead single which I confess, have greedily consumed.

The second lead single is a remake with Stevie Wonder called “Overjoyed” and that is exactly what fans will be.

Using a symphonic opening as grand as Celine’s show in Las Vegas (slight exaggeration but you get my point), we hear the sweet introduction with Stevie’s voice singing “over time / I’ve been building my castle of Love….” Oh those familiar lyrics; classic melody which has become institutional for lovers of true Adult Contemporary!  We didn’t think a sing so fine could get any better, until the sweet voice of Celine comes in singing “over dreams / I have picked out a perfect come true / though you’d never / knew it  was of you I’ve been dreaming / the sand man has come from too far away / for you to say come back some other day….”

Using an underlying syncopation similar to Billy Joel’s classic “Just the Way You Are,” Celine and Stevie draw us deep in to their vocal interplay which pays the ultimate compliment between the two.

If this track is any indication of how great Celine’s album is going to be, then you know it is going to be brilliant!

Here’s the track listing:

1. Loved Me Back to Life
2. Somebody Loves Somebody
3. Incredible (duet with Ne-Yo)
4. Water And A Flame
5. Breakaway
6. Save Your Soul
7. Didn’t Know Love
8. Thank You
9. Overjoyed (duet with Stevie Wonder)
10. Thankful
11. At Seventeen
12. Always Be Your Girl
13. Unfinished Songs

Top Independent Male Vocalist of the Year ►►► Stephen Souza!

Greetings!

Being an independent artist is one of the toughest careers in the world, but your support of Stephen Souza, especially his latest release “Sensi Smoker” has made life as an independent artist a lot easier, and has put him on the map as being one of the Top Independent Male Vocalists of the Year.

Stephen enjoyed a fantastic summer which included a performance at the sold out All White Affair hosted by Ms. Maxine Greaves in New York, he performed with Junior Cat in Philadelphia, and now, to close out the year, he will be performing in New Jersey on December 20th at Club Eclipse!  Not too bad!

In addition to performances, Stephen will be releasing an EP (in a month – ish) as well as an album next year.  The Reggae Gentleman was given this name by his fans for a very good reason!

Here’s a musical recap of Stephen’s hot chune "Smoke Sensi", and make sure you tweet with the artist via @stephensouzanyc and let him know what you think of this single!

P.S.  Stephen’s song “Smoke Sensi Pt. 2” is the most added song to the Sitting and Watching riddim made famous by The Crown Prince, Dennis Brown.  The other famous song added to the riddim is Beres Hammond and Shaggy’s chune “Fight This Feeling!”

Heads Up! Exclusive Preview from Larger Than Life Records – Going Home Riddim!

Greetings!

I don’t mean to be a tease, but today is going to be the exception to my rule!

Tosh and Trees, and the team at Larger Than Life Records alongside Dynasty Records have put together an incredible One Drop riddim called the Going Home Riddim.  Using a sweet swing and bounce vibe, the record label executives (Tosh and Trees) designed the riddim to make people skank, and skank they do.

Leading the riddim run is Chino McGregor with the chune “Larger Than Life,” Busy Signal and Exco Levi tag team with the chune “Wicked Evil Man,” Gappy Ranks comes in with “Free My Chains” and Bobby Hustle completes the package with “The Hunted.”  The entire riddim will be available on iTunes and all digital retail formats on November 5th, 2013, but until we get there, let me just say that this is the type of riddim that excites the industry.  This is the kind of riddim that will make people want to go to a session (dance) and skank on their good foot.  This is ital music at its best!

Here’s where the tease comes in, catch the riddim mix preview courtesy of Jahson of Solomonic Sounds at this link >>> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZ4hmFQTmDY

More information about the riddim and its production will come soon.  In the meantime, share your comments and thoughts directly with Team Larger Than Life Records on Twitter @LTLRecords | @BobbyHustle | @busysignal_turf | @Excolevi | @GAPPYRANKS | @L3Magazine

Bless up and thanks for your support!

HOTTT-ED New Dancehall ►►► Busy Signal – Same Way!

Greetings!

Do you remember the expression ‘the message is in the music?!  Hold that thought!  My good friend Busy Signal has dropped off some new music and of course, it’s HOTTT same way, and lyrically flattens whatever may be left standing!

Doing what he does best, Busy lets the world know that nothing has changed, and it’s business as usual “Same Way.”  In fact, the DJ begins his new chune by clearing his throat to make sure there is no misunderstanding, then says:  “yo street ah lock same way / lyrics tuff same way / mih ting ah beat same way / yeah / dem want it drop but it rise to the top / same way / still ah whap dem same way / yeah / yutes a hustle fih dih food same way / touch dih road same way / get yuh money same way / yeah / hot-ed / nuttin nuh change same way / mih inna dih place ah voice song same way / yeah….”  Musical Murdah!

True to Busy’s style, the introductory lyrics do not compare to the lyrics he gives deeper into the chune.  So prolific is his style, that it almost sounds like the music is fighting to keep up with him; the perfect analogy is Usain Bolt reaching the finish line and his competitors are still coming out of the blocks.  Kaboom.  Busy is flawless and fearless in his lyrical delivery.

For those of you interested in the sonar, the music becomes irrelevant (and I say that with respect) as the focus is on the points that Busy leads up to lyrically, but if you need an idea, compare the pace of the riddim to a horse running furlongs.  By the way, this is a Turf Music production!

Catch Busy Signal and the chune “Same Way” at the video link below and make sure you tweet the artist your thoughts about the chune >>> @busysignal_turf | @TurfMusicEnt | @L3Magazine

Brand New Lover’s Rock from the Legend ►►► Sanchez – Him Buy Yu a Drink!

Greetings!

Every single thing is coming up new for Sanchez!  New music, new look, new team and a new distribution deal … you might even say that Sanchez has a new sound musically; his sweet voice is still the same!  Keeping with the theme of ‘new,’ Sanchez’s new chune “Him Buy Yu a Drink” is HOTTT off the press, new, and ready for you!

Produced by New Millionaire Entertainment and distributed by Universal Music Group, Sanchez takes ladies to school in a club setting by letting them know that if dude buys a lady a drink, and she gives him a dance, it does not mean that he is going home with her for the night.  To make the point, the singer sings:  “true him buy you a drink and get a dance / him mussi think that you’re looking for romance / him want yuh number / so give him six / tell him fih go buy the lotto because him / have a better chance / let him know not because you’re here only / doesn’t really really mean that you’re lonely….”  Kaboom, but wait till you hear the lyrics about dude waiting for chick outside the restroom!  Whoi!!!

And in this one chune, Sanchez has a ladies anthem!  He gives women around the world permission and authority to walk away from dudes who are being annoying in a club over a drink!  Musically, fans will like the easy vibe of the riddim, especially the tickle of the organ!

Broadcasting in amplified sound and ready for your Radio and Mixtape pleasure, catch Sanchez and his new chune “Him Buy Yu a Drink” produced by New Millionaire Entertainment at the links below.  Make sure you let Team Sanchez know when you play the chune with a Tweet >>> @SanchezOfficial | @L3Magazine

#ThrowbackThursday - Funky Kingston!

Funky Kingston!

Before there were Instagram / photo filters, there was the #Art department at Island Records who created the album cover for the Toots and the Maytals 1972 album Funky Kingston.  Using the ‘cartoon’ effect, the designer depicted the group against a minimalist backdrop in Jamaica.  This classic album peaked at #164 on the Billboard 200 chart and was voted 11th best album of 1975.  The album was so popular, it was re-released in the US in 1975 on Mango Records!

L3 Magazine - October, 2013 ft. Sean Paul ~ Jesse Royal ~ Nicholai Khan and More!

HOTTT New Collaboration ►►► Wayne Marshall ft. Agent Sasco and Giomar – Stupid Money!

Greetings!

Let me put this chune into context before I go into the meat of this eblast.  There’s money, and then there’s stoooooooooopid money.  There’s Joe Public kind of money, then there’s Oprah, Carlos Slim Helu, and Bill Gates kind of money.  Good.  The brand new chune from Wayne Marshall caters to the latter … the people who are working for “Stupid Money!”

Produced by Damian Jr. Gong Marley, this new chune is the second single from Wayne’s album called Tru Colors, and features vocals from Wayne’s 7 year old son Giomar whose voice is heard singing the chorus.  Adding spice and grit to the production is Agent Sasco who DJ’s some tough lyrics.

Riding the piano keys, Wayne sing-jays:  “cheddar cheddar / genuine leather / from bully beef to lobster bruschetta / jet setta / shopping in Vienna / custom Louis V with the shades and the sweater / define the treasure / a dub beeper / I got better / focus / tru that mih better / now I’m a master / money getter / rich forever / have some new fans that look like Ke$ha ….”  Kaboom!

The chune has an international feel (and will still appeal to the Caribbean dancehall market) and ambition which resonates with listeners urging them to do more and aim higher for that ‘stupid money!’  Adding spice and grit, Agent Sasco DJ’s “me ah tell yuh bout stupid money / dunce funds / me ah talk Bill Gates – Donald Trump funds / nah talk bout lunch money / no lunch funds / we talking lump sums / trust funds for mih great, great Grandsons sons / stupid money / mih dollars have no sense / mih buy ah Benz dealership because Mommy wants a Benz….”  Double Kaboom!

If ‘strings’ is your thing, you will appreciate Gong Zilla’s sonic use and placement of stringed instruments which complements the prominent piano riff.  The way the strings are used, you hear the maturity, class and money in the chune … point well made!

Broadcasting in amplified sound and ready for you to rock while listening to the Radio, partying in the Club or riding with your Mixtape, catch Wayne Marshall featuring Agent Sasco and their chune “Stupid Money” at the link below.  If you like what you hear, tweet with the Superstar and his team @Wayne_Marshall | @damianmarley | @L3Magazine

World Clash R.E.S.E.T ~ 7 Sounds ~ 1 Champion Courtesy of Irish and Chin!

Greetings!

World Clash R.E.S.E.T hosted by Irish and Chin did not disappoint for the 2013 season.  7 sound systems vied for the coveted title.  There were hits, misses and surprises.  Here's my take on each sounds performance....

LP International was one of the hometown favorites, and though they paced themselves well, could not kick in to overdrive by the end of Round 3 and was shown the door. An impressive note to their performance was their switch from Polly Famous as MC to Shortman. Shorty connected with fans via speech - appealing to New Yorkers.

Beginning too fast and definitely to his folly is Jazzy T from Renaissance Disco. His French Montana, Ace Hood and Rihanna Dubplates we're impressive, especially for the majority hardcore New York massive, but, Jazzy ignored the golden rule which is never, ever, ever go that hard in round 1. 99% of the time, the sound that does that loses the endurance test and runs out if steam by round 3. So said, so done except that in Jazzy's case he was finished by Round 4 he was gone. The lesson, don't think a Hip Hop gimmick will win you a Clash in the World stage.

Soul Supreme was a disappointment and there isn't more to say than that. For all their fire-is tic speeches about being from New York and having excess amount of Dubplates, fans expected more but received less. In summation, this sound couldn't catch their rhythm and played themselves out by Round 2.

Another disappointment to the World Clash arena was the performance of Fire Links. After receiving a very generous life line from the audience (who should have eliminated him from Round 1), the much touted sound lacked any fire and resorted to climbing on speaker boxes to impress a very knowledgeable New York crowd. Flop. Not only was he a flop, he disrespected the intelligence of the people who know the foundation if Clash. Fool.

King Addies performance was good and overall a B+. They had 1 round, Round 2 which was flawless and pure genius. Rinsing Dubplates from Capleton, Jr. Gong and Buju, they ran a reverse play by letting the audience know they could hold off on their extremely heavy artillery of Bounty Killer Dubplates. The Art of war was in full effect all the way to chune fih chune.

Mighty Crown has extreme respect for Reggae, Dancehall and each artist whose made a contribution to the genres. That respect was evident in every round and well respected by the audience. Though they should have made it through to the final round, the New York massive who was rooting for King Addies had other plans. Solid performance by Mighty Crown, and if on neutral ground, would have advanced to the end.

The biggest surprise for the night without doubt was Sky Juice aka Metro Media. From round 1 to round end, Metro Media established that they were not going to throw insults, but would "beat them and teach them."

Using classic Clash chunes from Super Cat, Shabba and Peter Metro (just to name a few, Metro Media appealed to hardcore Clash fans who wanted to be impressed by a sounds use of the fundamentals; they wanted to hear speech, chune and Riddim!

Using the moniker 'freeeeeeeeeeee chune,' Sky Juice gave fans their monies worth and easily earned this World Clash win. I should also note that Sky Juice performed each round at 95 out of 100 or higher. There was no dispute that the crowd gave him the trophy.

Congratulations Sky Juice and Metro Media for the well deserved win. You schooled the youths on how to win World Clash.  If you're a fan of the art of Sound Clash, or you want to be entertained in all genres if music in a dance, add Metro Media to your event!

HOTTT New Reggae ►►► Eddie Murphy ft. Snoop Lion – Red Light!

Greetings!

Music is an infection that can’t be cured, and music is a healing agent that treats all people.  Eddie Murphy’s new single featuring Snoop Lion is both an infection and a healer and this paradox is accomplished through the new song “Red Light!”

From the time the introduction comes via the roll of the drum and the setting of the bass guitar combined with the pick of the riddim guitar, we know the message will be in the music.  Proving us right, and setting in the ‘infection,’ Eddie Murphy sings “red light / stop right / there where you are / red light / stop right / there where you are / out of the frying pan / into the fire / burning down the people’s souls / my high anxiety / is getting higher / feels like I’m gonna blow / gone is the breeze / it used to be so sweet / poison is the wind that blows / it can’t be long / till the military comes / with a knock – knock – knock on your door / alright….!

Establishing sweet balance, and acting as a healing agent, Snoop Lion adds to the song by sing-jaying “pick up the pieces / let it begin / cause this is the way that we flow / higher and higher and higher we go / through dedication / self preservation / highly I Selassie I ….”

Impressing listeners’ even more, especially Caribbean listeners, Eddie hails Marcus Garvey and makes note of the fact that since our great leaders are gone, we’ve lost our way and darkness has become the day … we need our rebels and leaders to step up again; if we don’t get that back, we’ll have a ‘red light.’

For true Reggae lovers, this song is for you.  It is authentic sonically and lyrically; what’s more, Eddie and Snoop could have used their voices to sing about hype but instead use their voice for message music and that should be applauded and played!

Broadcasting in amplified sound, and taken from his upcoming album called 9, catch Eddie Murphy featuring Snoop Lion and the chune “Red Light” at the links below.  You can also tweet your thoughts of the chune to Team Eddie / Snoop >>> @EddieMurphy | @SnoopLion | @L3Magazine

HOTTT New Music ►►► Vybz Kartel – Mother’s Love!

Greetings!

From our birth to our last days on earth, there is one name that we call more than any other and that is “Mom.”  Mother’s Love is the kind of Love that knows when we’re not feeling well, knows the perfect remedy to make us feel better, and exactly what advice to give.

One of the most famous Mother’s is Mother Theresa who made it a mission to care for the poorest of the poor.  In that capacity, she washed the soars of people who were sick, nursed a woman dying of hunger and visited poor families bringing them comfort.

Vybz Kartel’s song “Mother’s Love” is the kind of song that, regardless how you feel about him, is a song worthy of receiving international love as a celebration for all the good that Mother’s do.

Produced by So Unique Records and performing on a riddim that is R&B with a slight interpolation of Reggae / Dancehall syncopation, we hear lyrics that come from children when they speak of their Mom.  Kartel sings:  “No woman in this world can / take my Mama’s place / the loving that you give can / never be replaced / the lady in my life / everytime I see your face / me see love oh yes….”

Whether you or your listeners say Mom, Mum, Mère, Madre, Mãe, there is only one and she should be honored and loved every single day.

Broadcasting in amplified sound catch Vybz Kartel and the chune “Mother’s Love” at the link below.  When you play the chune, make sure you tweet @iamthekartel | @L3Magazine!

L3 Magazine October ft. Sean Paul ... Dutty Yeah!

Temperatures on the east coast of the United States and Canada are unseasonably high, so to match the unprecedented heat, the team at L3 Magazine decided to feature the hottest Dancehall artist for the October 2013 issue; Sean Paul.

Speaking exclusively to Natasha Von Castle from his home in Jamaica, Sean shared his views on the industry as a whole, including the number of mainstream artists who are adopting Dancehall and or Dancehall elements in their music.  Sean’s focus is on his new album Full Frequency which is due to be released soon.  Full Frequency is the follow up to Tomahawk Technique, ushering in the ‘TTFF’ era!  Always one to make his views clear, Sean takes the time to correct a mis-quote issued by another media outlet about his views on Snoop Lion (formerly known as Snoop Dogg).  What does the artist really think about Snoop Lion’s album?

Coming from a sports background, what similarities does Sean find between sports and music?  We get this and more from the artist.

Tricia ‘ZJ Sparks’ Spence speaks with one of Reggae’s brightest sensations, Jesse Royal who is also known as the Small Axe.  Not one to give too many interviews, Jesse shares the inspiration for his song “Light Like a Feather’ while sharing his views on the difference between a ‘glamour Ras’ and a real Rasta.  Tounding out the interview, Jesse says that “I work on myself; my mentality, spirituality and physicality. It is all a oneness. From that comes everything else.”  What question did Sparkie ask to promtp this response?!

Nicholai Khan’s art is 100% inspired by Spirituality, and is very hard to resist when seen online or in person.  Having traveled to 7 continents, visiting as many cultures and learning several spiritual practices, Nicholai explains how he interprets the energy of Bob Marley which became a fan favorite in Queen’s and attracting visitors to ponder the piece’s meaning.  Nicholai says “believe in something so big, and I believe we are all included in that.  The fact of the matter is that even though we are separate, we get to share our universes with each other.”

Heike Dempster interviews Bahamian artist Motive, while Adrian Daniel, J. Will, Jah Defender and Vicky Sola are additional features.  Our Fashion focus looks at Keith Rowe, DJ of the month is Stephan Mercury and Fanton Mojah has a P.S.A for Jamaica.

L3’s reliable charts as well as Model of the month are also featured.  All of this and more available in the October issue of L3 Magazine available here:  http://bit.ly/179C5OI

HOTTT New Adult Contemporary ►►► Dalton Harris – You Will Know {Penthouse Records}!

Greetings!

I feel like speaking to you in reverse where I give you the end statement, then I work my way back to the beginning so here goes … Dalton Harris has the voice of an Angel!

Every generation has a crop of artists that, as soon as you hear their voice, you just know they will have a successful career (if guided by the right hands).  Donovan Germain, Bunu, Shane C. Brown and the team at Penthouse records know what they hear in the voice of Dalton Harris, and now you will know too!

Originally performed and released in 1988 by Stevie Wonder as track 2 of his Characters album, the song was a #1 R&B hit.  It made his label, Motown very happy, and it made his fans very happy too.  Fast forward to 2013 and we have Dalton covering the chune in a way that would make Stevie proud!

For those of you who are particular about the arrangement of a song, you will like what team Penthouse did, and will appreciate the structure of the lead guitar as it plays a supporting role to Dalton’s smooth vocals!  If you’re in a mixed format setting, this song easily mixes with Adult Contemporary, R&B and Jazz!

Irish and Chin Announces the Explosive Return of "REEEWIND"

Greetings!

If you came up in the era of Sound System culture, you will know that one of the best ways to hear an artist and appreciate their talent is when they perform live (in front of an audience) backed by a Sound System.  As simple as this artform looks, it really requires skill.  This skill is broken down by the artist in terms of understanding the riddim being run, and being able to ride the riddim using lyrics that fit.  To see all of this come together in a venue with hundreds and or thousands of people is nothing short of magical.

Magic comes to live thanks to Irish and Chin who return with an explosive 5th edition of the insanely popular "REEEWIND & COME AGAIN" on Saturday, November 9, 2013.

Going down on Veterans Day Weekend inside Amazura entertainment complex, this epic tribute to sound system/Rub-a-Dub culture will thrill patrons with more than 4 hours of live performances by top Reggae acts on legendary sounds including King Stur Gav (with URoy), Jah Love (with Ilawi) and King Addies (with Danny Dread). A tribute to the 80's, artists already confirmed on the line up include Brigadier Jerry, Sister Nancy, Charlie Chaplin and General Trees. Irish and Chin is positioned to make major announcements regarding at least 3-4 first time heavy hitters pegged for the line up in the coming weeks! This installment will surely move the massive!

The only show of its kind in the New York Tri-State area, "REEEWIND" captures the true essence of an era when sounds ruled the world, paving a way for rising artists. This historical event will have the industry talking for years to come. It's been over two years since the last staging of "REEEWIND" and fans have been anxious for the stellar event's return. "REEEWIND" shines as one of Irish and Chin's most successful brands, typically attracting 3,000 loyal patrons. Just imagine 7-8 powerhouse artists sharing the mic and toasting over intense foundation riddims, provided by resident sounds King Stur Gav, Jah Love and King Addies.

Since 2009, through "REEEWIND," Irish and Chin has been delivering high caliber Caribbean entertainment. The flagship event has been the platform for landmark performances from leading acts and sounds such as the late great Sugar Minott, King Stur Gav, Brigadier Jerry, Barrington Levy, Cocoa Tea, Shabba Ranks, Admiral Bailey, General Trees, Charlie Chaplin, Frankie Paul, Sanchez, Flourgan, David Rodigan and more! In fact, "REEEWIND" was the staging of Sugar Minott's last major performance before passing. Irish and Chin was humbly honored to have been graced with the presence of such an established artist and purveyor of the culture.

All artists booked for "REEEWIND" are looking forward to the experience. It's just as much of a treat to return down memory lane for the artists as it is for the fans. Preservation of culture in an ever-changing industry is essential. While the more seasoned patrons will relive an era from their youth, new revelers will have a rare opportunity to soak in the nostalgia and fundamentals of sound system and Dancehall culture. Before dub plates, there were action packs sessions of sound systems featuring live artists. All in attendance will get the maximum value for their money.
