Mighty Crown Presents ►►► Exco Levi – The Official Mixtape!

Greetings!

Mighty Crown’s reputation for delivering quality entertainment runs from stage shows, to Sound Clash to merchandise.  Today, Mighty Crown’s reputation extends to the Mixtape market, and front and center is the undisputed Knotty, Exco Levi!

Both entities have come together to give fans a mixtape which includes Exco’s hit chunes from 2013.  The mix plays so sweetly, you would think you’re at a concert.  Hit songs such as “Life in the Factory,” “Wicked Evil Man,” “Bleaching Shop” and “Storms of Life” which are reminders as to why this artist is one of the best.  Exco’s talent is also a reminder of why renowned producer Donovan Germaine (Penthouse Records) enjoys working with the artist, as well as Silly Walks Discotheque (Germany) and Larger Than Life Records (Boston - U.S.A)!

When I spoke to Exco about why he decided to put out the mix now, he said “my fans have been asking for this mix, and I wanted to give it to them special, and special comes from Mighty Crown putting the mix together!”  Not only does Mighty Crown do the mix, very prominent artists give customized jingles … Kaboom!

HOTTT New Dancehall ►►► Exco Levi – Man a Knotty!

Reggae’s shining star, Exco Levi is always in a serious gift giving mood.  This year alone he’s blessed us with several HOTTT Reggae releases, and today, Exco is giving us another gift but this time it’s a Dancehall chune … yes, you read me right … Dancehall and “Man ah Knotty!”

Expanding all territories, Exco boldly steps in to the world of Dancehall, not to perform slack lyrics but to give the people good music to dance to.  The artist sings:  “this is the Psalm of a Levi / Babylon fih leave I / from righteous livity / yuh know we nah guh defy / nah nyam no meat it could be curry or deep fry / 3 step with turban nuh call me no sweet guy / nah mek no money or no vanity deceive I / Ethiopia stretch forth her hand to receive I / Kings highway I ah travel / what a sweet time / Babylon can defeat I ….”  This is only 41 seconds into the chune!  Kaboom!

Giving good people good music to dance to, Exco proudly tells the world that he’s a knotty, and the kick is, when this chune is played on the radio, in the club, or on a mixed tape, people will be singing the chorus with him … “man ah knotty!”

The riddim, produced by Spott Music Productions, is Dancehall but it’s Dancehall with a heavy vibration.  Trust me, this is THE chune to beat.  If you don’t believe, attend Rebel Salute hosted by Tony Rebel and Queen IFrica and see what Exco Levi does on that stage!

Look out for the chune coming to iTunes soon!

This year some of Shaggy’s closest friends will be in attendance to support his fundraising efforts.  Friends such as award winning, and international recording artist Ne-Yo whose hits include “Miss Independent,” “Sexy Love,” and “Because of You” will perform.  Ne-Yo, who became friends with Shaggy after meeting the star through mutual friends, didn’t hesitate to lend support to the cause saying “I am honored to perform for the children of Jamaica and bring added attention to the Bustamante Hospital.”  In addition to Ne-Yo joining Shaggy on stage, January 4th will mark the homecoming of Jamaica’s international songstress, Tessanne Chin.

Tessanne caused international hearts to stir with her performance on NBC’s The Voice.  Moving fans worldwide, Tessanne impressed judges and fans each week with her powerful and passionate voice, singing carefully selected songs such as “Try,” “Redemption Song” and “Bridge Over Troubled Water.”  The night of Shaggy and Friends marks Tessanne’s triumphant return to her homeland, and her support for the Bustamante Hospital!

How Beyonce's 'Beyonce' Stayed Secret Until the Day of Release?!

Without announcement or fanfare, Beyonce’s fifth album, simply entitled ‘Beyonce,’ arrived Friday morning at midnight, and was released without a lead single being released, without promotional video being released, no special performance, and no marketing campaign.  14 Tracks and multiple producers and no one knew it was coming!  How did she do this without a single leak?!

A lot of code names!  Not only did Beyonce use a lot of code names (according to Andrew Hampp of Billboard Magazine), King Bey used a lot of shifting deadlines which meant that producers and her team were unsure of the actual release date f her album.  What’s more, the final plans regarding the release wasn’t in place until last week.  To tell you how important Bey’s fans are to her, she says “I miss that immersive experience," she says, of watching music videos like Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” as a family, as a mass event. "Now people only listen to a few seconds of a song on the iPods and they don’t really invest in the whole experience. It’s all about the single, and the hype. It’s so much that gets between the music and the art and the fans. I felt like, I don't want anybody to get the message, when my record is coming out. I just want this to come out when it’s ready and from me to my fans."

On the executive level, final meetings were held with Columbia, Parkwood (Beyonce’s management company) late last week, and with iTunes to finalize plans for the album, which was code-named “Lily” to avoid leaks. Another final meeting announcing the album to employees and producers was held at Columbia on Thursday, Dec. 12. Only the most senior executives at iTunes, the album’s exclusive distributor until a planned physical release on Dec. 21, were clued in on the plans.

As for promo plans, Beyonce is in the midst of wrapping up the U.S. leg of her Mrs. Carter Tour, which plays New York’s Barclays Center next Thursday (Dec. 19.) Though plans were still being finalized, a screening event featuring a theatrical presentation of the 14 videos are being prepared.

HOTTT New Island Pop ►►► Maverick – She Like It!

Greetings!

Performing artist Maverick has created a successful formula for making great music, and that formula comes to life in his latest release called “She Likes It” which in one word is HOTTT!

Hailing from the Bean Town, aka Boston, crossover artist Maverick has stopped by to deliver his latest record called “She Likes It” which starts off with a great introduction, then eases into symphonic sounds before we hear the artist sing:  “saw you walking in the rain / trying to escape the pain / I said a woman like that should never have a tear so I gave her my name / I told her come my way / please don’t be ashamed / put my finger on her chin to lift her head up then I started to sing ….”  Kaboom!

The story continues with Maverick using his sweet voice to explain to the young lady that he understands the pain she’s been through, and he wants to be her knight in shining armor who takes her out of her heart ache.  Maverick represents the gentlemen of the world who believe in chivalry!  Adding a little grit to the song, we hear an easy Dancehall DJ lyrical flow at the bridge which is exactly how the crossover audience likes it.  This chune is a must play!

Broadcasting in amplified sound, catch Maverick and the chune “She Likes It” produced by Ballistic and Pushkeys at the YouTube link below.  You can also reach out to Mav on Twitter and let him know what you think >>> @MoneyMav

Ready to Take Your Dream Trip?!

If I could grant you one wish, and guarantee you that your one wish would come true, what would that wish be?  I asked a few of my friends, and they all said money.  When I asked why, they said ‘because they want to do what they want to do when they want to do it.’  I waved my wand and granted them their wish!

You might be wondering how, and the answer is simple.  I asked them what they are most passionate about, and connected their passions with financial gain.  Simple.

The one thing that we love to do, is get on a plane and travel.  No matter how mature or young you are, there is something about traveling to an exotic location – preferably HOTTT – checking in to a lush hotel and hitting the beach for sand and snorkeling; even better, getting paid to do it!

I came across a group that has made it possible to offer travel at drastically reduced prices which means friends and family can take dream trips.  Imagine trecking through the rainforest in Guatemala, experiencing Safari tours in Africa, or fun and excitement in Las Vegas.

I attended a meeting with 300 people who were all passionate about Travel, and half of them became millionaires because of the Travel business.  Say what?!  Yes, it’s true.  These millionaires are not dressed in suits and ties, instead they’re wearing jeans and t’s with swim suits underneath ready to catch their next flight to the tropics; I might add, all of them drive luxury vehicles (I was understated in my Lincoln Aviator), and all of them want you to become a millionaire too!  Let me repeat that, all of them want you to become a millionaire too!

If you happen to be in New York tonight, take a trip to the Bronx or Brooklyn and find out how these millionaires did it.  I promise it will not be a waste of your time!

Visit the website http://imonthego.dreamtripslife.com/ for details, then join us at Cue Lounge – 1107 E Gunhill Rd., Bronx, NY 10469 tonight, December 6th, 2013 from 7:30 to 10pm or 441 Ocean Avenue, Brooklyn, New York from 7:30 to 10pm!

It’s time to live your dream life!  J

Countdown to Christmas and Happy Holidays ►►► Sanchez - This Christmas!

Greetings!

Today is December 1st, and the countdown is officially on to Christmas.  In addition to celebrating family and making plans for the New Year, we also enjoy good music from good artists, and today, Sanchez drops by to deliver his latest release which is just in time for the Holiday’s!

Produced by New Millionaire Entertainment, “This Christmas” is a remake of the classic originally performed by Donny Hathaway in 1970.  Adding some island soul to the musical delivery, Sanchez and team make this the kind of record that you will be playing repeatedly.  Sanchez intro’s with:  “Christmas / is that one special time of the year / a time to come together / sharing gifts / giving thanks / oh it’s Christmas time for real / a time for giving and sharing / caring yes….”

Musically, you will love how New Millionaire uses the keyboard for the skank and drops the bass line in and out which has elements of the Satisfaction riddim made famous by Trojan Records who produced Carl Dawkins “Satisfaction” and later picked up by Richie Spice and the chune “Grooving!”  Yes indeed … wicked vibes guaranteed to make your holiday playlist sound that much better!

Broadcasting in amplified sound, catch Sanchez and the chune “This Christmas” produced by New Millionaire Entertainment at the SoundCloud link below, and make sure you tweet with the artist @SanchezOfficial

Fresh from the Lab ►►► Sly & Robbie ft. Stingwray – Moringa Seed!

Greetings!

To some, Sly & Robbie (Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare) has done just about everything there is to do in music.  They’ve created timeless classics, launched the careers of many artists, and have won multiple awards; they’ve even earned Hero status in Jamaica.  Though everything mentioned is true, Sly & Robbie will not stop making music because it is as essential to them as breathing!

The duo’s latest release is an instrumental called “Moringa Seed” which features Stingwray.  Moringa, which is the plant / flower, is rich in Protein and Vitamin’s A, B and C, and is also anti-fungal, anti-viral, antiseptic, and antibacterial.   The Moringa seed is healthy, the plant is healthy, and the riddim / instrumental from Sly & Robbie is healthy!

Elements of the riddim will remind you of Beenie Man’s classic chune “Foundation” released on the award winning album Music is Life.  This version is a much slower version and is good for selectors who are moving from Spanish / Latin sounds to Reggae or even Jazz to Reggae and vice versa.

Broadcasting live and direct from Jamaica, and in amplified sound, catch Sly and Robbie and Stingwray with their newest release “Moringa Seed” at the links below!

HOTTT New Music Video Release ►►► Rickey Teetz – Poverty Life / Working!

Movies almost always have a common theme.  The subject (main character) comes from a particular background, has to overcome obstacle(s) to achieve a certain goal; just when they think all obstacles are removed, one more item pops up which is the biggest one, they overcome, and claim victory.  In between all of that, we also might have a love story.

Rickey Teetz walks us on that journey, but instead of telling the story in 2 hours, he tells it in 3 minutes via his HOTTT new music video, “Poverty Life / Working” which has just been released.

Shot live on location in Jamaica, Rickey walks us through the life of a youth / family who are having a hard time making ends meet.  One of the iconic shots in the video is the close up of one slice of bread which is intended to be dinner.  To showcase how close the story line is to Rickey, he is featured in the video, not as a character, but as the narrator who is telling the story, and watching the story unfold at the same time.  We LOVE this!

So how does this story end?!  Well I can’t say there’s an end because Rickey is with us (whom the video is based on) and will be with us for another hundred years, but, the video goes on to tell us what happens after a few years of hard work.  It’s not a Hollywood ending but it is a Jamaica ending!

Made for the big screen, pree the music video for “Poverty Life / Working” by Rickey Teetz and produced by Win Out Entertainment at these links >>> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oqJMgI0DLus

What’s Up With @busysignal_turf and his Blurred Lines???

Greetings!

Busy Signal is dealing with a serious case of “Blurred Lines” and I think this case has come due to overwhelming demand from Mixed format DJ’s on Radio and who produce Mixed Tapes.  The HOTTT-ED one has remixed his HOTTT singles “Bedroom Bully” and “Same Way” to the hit “Blurred Lines” riddim.

Both chunes are hits; the original versions can easily take you from Throwback Dancehall to Hardcore Dancehall, and now with the remixes, you can move to or from uptempo R&B / Throwback Funk.  I’m looking at my crystal ball, and I think these remixes are a clear sign of some of the projects coming up soon for Busy.  Looking at the chronology, the “All in One” chune implemented Funk and Hip Hop, now the “Blurred Lines” remixes … yup!  My crystal ball doesn’t lie!  No matter what, you can’t contain the versatility, creativity or direction of the HOTTT-ED!

Tweet your thoughts about the remixes to Busy and Team via @busysignal_turf | @turfmusicent | @L3Magazine

HOTTT New Medley from the HOTTT-ED ►►► Busy Signal – All In One!

Greetings!

Denzel Washington is one of the best Actors and this is confirmed by his fans, and the academy who have awarded him countless accolades.  Mr. Washington will tell you that even though he’s won awards, he still trains with his acting coach, and he takes nothing for granted.  Busy Signal is the same with his craft.

As much as Busy has hit chune upon hit chune under his belt, he still hustles, practices, rehearses and goes hard as if he has nothing at all.  HOTTT-ED!  Busy’s newest release, called “All in One” is the type of medley / chune that once again, sets him ahead because of its tenacity.  You can hear the ‘growl’ in Busy’s voice which suggests that he is going to take what is his, which is the #1 spot.

Musically, we go from Mtume’s “Juicy,” to Dr. Dre’s “Still” to “Next Episode” to Mobb Deep’s “Quiet Storm” to Nas’s “Hate Me Now” and there’s more!  In total, the medley runs 5:59 and at no point will your finger be tempted to hit the ‘next’ button!  Kaboom!

If you’re a lyricist who is hooked on Busy’s prowess, believe me when I tell you, he will not, and he does not disappoint!  References to his hit chune Bumaye as well as artist Rihanna, Bounty Killer and Richie Spice are just too HOTTT, not to mention Turf Music dropping in the DMX “Ruff Riders Anthem” reference and Black Rob’s “Like Whoa!”  Musical Murdah!  Click the links below for the download, and hail the artist on Twitter >>> @busysignal_turf!

The Most Powerful Man on the Radio in New York ►►► DJ Norie!

Greetings!

There is nothing I like to talk about more, and promote more than people who play or perform music.  I am so driven to promote our industries players of instruments that I created L3 Magazine.  I’ll never forget my first front cover which featured Richie Feelings and Panther from Black Kat Sound; what a long way I’ve come, and now I’m returning to my roots!

DJ Norie is one of the most humble people you will ever meet.  He’s also very laid back, and chill, except when it comes to his relationship with music.  When we step in to that arena, Norie’s persona amplifies and he does what he does best which results in many happy people singing and dancing when he plays.  Everybody moves when he touches the wheels of steel!

A lot of people (outside of New York), don’t know that Norie began with Afrique Sound.  Those beginnings built him to the point that he knows music inside out, and he knows the fans inside out.  When you combine those two (music and fans), you end up with the #1 Radio show on the #1 Radio station, Power 105.1 FM and sold out events no matter where he goes.  His story will impress you, and it’s here for you to read in the November issue of L3 Magazine.  Click on the cover to read >>> http://bit.ly/1hzXXeN

P.S.  You can also read about Bramma, Christopher Ellis, Reigndrop Lopes (sister of Lisa ‘Lefteye’ Lopes) and more!

EMERGE ARTISTS SHOWCASE ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY

Veronica Domingues

Growing up in the west side of Toronto, Portuguese-Canadian artist Veronica Domingues always had a passion for music. At the age of 4 she was already singing to her family, but as she grew older, so too would her interest in music. While attending high school she was a member of the choir for 3 years. She performed in shows at her school, but really wanted to accomplish more than what she was already doing.

In 2010, Veronica Domingues was discovered by Jay L.A. Management and began her journey into becoming the soulful songstress she is today. During the year of 2011 Veronica decided it was time to start working on her own independent project. She decided to team up with producer Junia-T and Director/Filmmaker Customatic. “Just Chill”, was released on May 10th, 2013.

After releasing the video for her second track “Keep On” featuring Bubba, Veronica received local as well as international recognition on SingersRoom, a prominent American website. While the applause keeps coming in for “Just Chill”, Veronica has already set out to work on her next project (title and date TBA) and is looking forward to an exciting and busy 2013. “Just Chill” is now available on iTunes and Bandcamp.

PJ "Kingpin" Wilson

If you’re looking for old-time soul, PJ Kingpin Wilson is your man. Born and raised in the city of Barrie, PJ fell in love with the old sounds of Motown as a young boy. “My parents always played Smokey Robinson and Marvin Gaye in the house. It’s an era I revisit all the time when it comes to my music.” Inspired by his own father singing at church, PJ enrolled in vocal lessons and began his quest for music.

In high school, he experimented with different sounds. Working with local rap groups, to school choirs and bands, PJ was determined to have his silky smooth voice heard. In 2011, a chance meeting with Juno award-winning producer Chris Perry, led to a series of recording sessions that brought to life his first three-track E.P. entitled “Preface”. The year after, PJ would continue to write and record but mostly spent the time developing his songwriting skills. “When I write, it’s usually about love and relationships. I’m a very positive spirit and it’s important that I illustrate that in my songs and in the way that I perform.” Always striving for more, he would drive into Toronto every week to perform in the open-mic circuit in order to fine-tune his sound.

“Ultimately, I want my music to make audiences feel inner happiness. When they hear it, they are inspired to feel something and they know they are not alone in their situation. I want to be relatable as an artist.” Embarking on an infectious musical journey where a revived sound of Motown and R&B will come alive, PJ Wilson is all smiles as he continues to draw in audiences with his soulful, never-ending, timeless tunes.
