For the Ladies who Move Like a Propellah!

Friends in the UK and Europe know the name Serocee very well.  Friends in other parts of the world are still getting to know the artist, BUT, with the release of today’s chune “Propellah,” everyone will be on the same page which is that Serocee and the chune is BADDD!

Produced by Toddla T Sound for the Kensal Road EP, this chune is a Carnival special – from Nottinghill Carnival to Carnival in Brazil and every one in between, Serocee picks up on a recurring theme displayed on every Carnival route, in every Dancehall and every bedroom of consenting adults, and that is the motion of a woman’s waist.  This motion can be compared to the rotation of a helicopter blade:  “Propellah!”

Using the bass to accentuate the punch of a women’s hips when she moves, Serocee sings “yo mih gyal who teach you fih wine so / dih Kartel tune with Black Rhyno / so much gyal inna dih dance but mih find yuh / touch yuh toe when me get behind you / yuh nuh boring gyal / yuh nuh idle / when you get turned up men go psyco / show me how you ride the cycle / wha mek so much man waan fih bribe you….”  And the word play continues!

This chune is part big band (think college marching bands), part UK Swagger, and all Caribbean attitude, and I’m telling you, it’s a hit, let me repeat, HIT chune.  Don’t pause, blink, wait or sleep on this chune, it is that good … worse if you request it at Raves ... dih place buss!

Catch the chune at the download links below and make sure you Tweet with the artist and tell him what you think >>> @Serocee

P.S.  The only thing you won’t like about the chune is it’s not long enough!

HOTTT New Artist Alert! Jay Prince's Eternal Love!

We have a HOTTT new artist to welcome to the world of Reggae (and a little bit of Dancehall), and he goes by the name of Jay Prince!

Jay Prince
To accurately understand where Jay is coming from, we have to look at his roots and surroundings which is, his Mother raised he and his 4 siblings as a cancer patient survivor.  Dad is married to Martin Luther King Junior’s daughter and Granmother, Ma Ashanti, is the Mother of the Nyabingi Tribe of Rastafarians.  I’m not mentioning these facts to impress, you, I just want you to have a good understanding of the tree that’s being introduced!

Jay began to express an interest in music at an early age which was nurtured by True Man Chewstic, and today, the young artist has a new chune on the road which is doing very well in Jamaica, and is about to go ‘up’ around the world!

“Eternal Love” is the artists debut chune, and gives us a clear view of his heart, his commitment to Love, and his approach to Love.  The artist sings:  “mih put a lot of changes to your mind / never want me now mih mek you haffi need me every time / show you that the Rasta heart is so divine / show you the light and now you’re mine….”

Not only is this great chune on the radio, it is also available on demand via YouTube courtesy of Hype TV Jamaica!

Macka Diamond Has Another HIT Record - We Run Tings!

There are some people who like ‘mix up’ in Dancehall, and given the rivalry between some ladies (think Sting 2013), there is one thing and only one thing that speaks in the face of controversy:  facts!

Macka Diamond
The fact is that Macka Diamond has put in work (from the 1980’s “Gun Inna Brief” hit under the name Lady Mackerel) to 2012’s “Dye Dye.”  In between those years, Macka has had an incredible career with several hits to show, as well as several tours and stage shows; we haven’t even touched the global approval of her fans.  With that said, Macka Diamond once again teams with Nicko Rebel Music (previous productions include “Looking Good” and “Town”), and together they have a HITTT chune with “We Run Things!”

The title of the chune may sound boasy (arrogant / boastful) but to be fair, it is not.  Macka gives a highlight reel of some of her milestones in Dancehall, and does it to a hybrid throwback riddim whose piano skank closely resembles what we hear in the Roll Call riddim.  That alone will make you want to play the chune much less when we hear the artist sing:  “sekkle Macka Docious caw mih career tun up / when me touch dih stage yuh know dih whole place bun up / when dem think mih career done another hit chune run up / promoter book the show ah whole heap people tun up….”

Be the first to like this chune and Tweet to Macka and Nicko about it >>> @mackadiamond1 | @nickorebelmusic
